The role ofJoint Development part in High-Speed Rail Programs
High speed rail systems are being developed throughout the U.S. and around the world. We all may thank the global crisis, the environmental and fossil fuel alterting tendencies for being a catalyst to draw the attention of the international community to a new high-speed transit solutions which opens a new era in the land transportaion field.
The construction of high-speed rail systems will entail projects ranging from engineering (including environmental and industrial) though administration to public relations, with virtually every small business type potentially involved in some way. Workers will need to be housed and fed in various locations as development progresses, office supplies will be needed, facilities will need signage, and so on. IT, telecommunications, electrificaiton, electronics and security, metallurgy , heavy machinery and equipment, as well as other indusctries will directly or indirectly benefit from such developments.
Ukrainian Government will have to step in to coordinate needs and activities inhancing the HSR-related sales activities through proper coding of goods and services, making it easier for small businesses nationwide to be visible for business development processes.
Business opportunities in HSR systems implementation abound, and not just for prime contractors. These opportunities exist in both the high-speed rail initiatives as well as in the increased funding to modernized and upgrade the “standard” rail system.
While prime contractors may have to build entirely new facilities to construct components for rolling stock, signal systems, and other major parts of the infrastructure, the coming increase in maintenance and repair shops and engine overhaul facilities will have to be addressed as well.
Japanese HSR operators were amongh first nations who learned how to make HSR rails systems profitable on distances less then 100 km. Their solution was based on joint-development partnerships representing core groups of businesses and organizations united under ambrella of common-interest program, with sub-groups or individual businesses covering specific needs for the program or for particular projects within a program.
